Needle (tip missing). Flat, tapering upper end with a rounded edge, pierced by two contiguous drilled, circular thread holes. Middle of needle circular in section.

Needle. Conical, pointed upper end; tapering shaft, circular in section; pointed tip. Pierced by two contiguous drilled, circular thread holes.

Upper two-thirds of needle. Flat, tapering upper end with rounded upper edge; pierced by two drilled, circular thread holes flanking a narrow rectangular hole (L .6 cm). Middle of needle circular in section.

Pin, broken at each end. Conical, pointed finial; long, tapering shaft, circular in section.

Broad-headed pin, broken at its tip. Large, ovoid finial; long shaft, circular in section, expanding toward the middle, then tapering to the tip.

Broad-headed pin, broken at its tip. Roughly cylindrical finial, rounded at its top; long shaft, circular in section, expanding toward the middle, then tapering to the tip.

Narrow-headed pin, broken at lower end. Short conical finial, pointed at its top; long shaft, circular in section, expanding toward the middle, then tapering to the tip.

Applicator, stirrer, or other tool. Long shaft, flat at the upper end, with a rounded top; otherwise circular in section, with a pointed tip, cut flat on one side.

Two curvilinear paired bone, applique ornaments attached by bronze rivets to an iron box or other iron furnishing sheathed in iron. Three circular, drilled holes were used to affix the bone to the box.

Nine fragments of flat, horizontal(?) bone, applique or molding strip for furnishing. Exterior cut and polished with parallel grooves and ridges; underside left unfinished.

 

17. G 10/86 Y 21 B (13)
      Max D 3.5 cm; H 1 cm; D hole .6 cm

Circular bone object, roughly worked on all surfaces, sawed across the cross section of a bone, On one side, a circular drilled hole. Function uncertain.

 

18. G 10/83 EE 22 C (10) SF no. 83.43
      H 2.4 cm; W 1.8 cm; Depth .8-.9 cm

Rectangular plaque, with long oval hole surrounded by a cut oval set-back at its center. Upper edge flat and polished; lower edge sawed and left unfinished; side edges are curved and polished. A transverse circular hole is drilled from one side to the other at the bottom of the object. On the backside; at the top, a cut transverse square channel, below which is an intaglio cut circular area with a central depression. Presumably the channel and the circular area were cut to fit over a metal fitting. Function uncertain, but possibly a plaque masking a locking mechanism on a box or furnishing.
